п»їSupport Assessment for Learning

Outcome 1Understand the purpose and characteristics of assessment intended for learning 1 . 1Compare and contrast the roles of the teacher as well as the learning support practitioner in assessment of learners' achievements

The teacher is responsible for assessing children to find out what level they are on, and monitoring their progress and achievements by a specific time. My personal role is usually to support the pupils in achieving these goals and also to support the teacher through giving reviews after a learning activity has taken place. The instructor will need to learn about every infant's progress and achievements to enable them to prepare their very own end of year studies, hold parents' evenings etc . Assessing the pupils' progress is an ongoing process throughout every season. In my placing, we make use of ‘Post-it' remarks on a pin-board, with a space allocated for every single pupil, and pin up virtually any goals they need to reach. When the pupils include achieved their goal, the note is dated and filed away in the suitable part of their very own personal statement file, which is typed up for the parents at the conclusion of the college year, making use of the information on the ‘Post-it' records inside. The students teacher strategies lessons that set out obvious objectives to ensure that pupils' progress can be scored. Both students and support staff are produced aware of the objectives and any achievements will be registered and reported back to the teacher. Before each learning session, the pupils accumulate in the ‘Quiet Room' to get an introduction towards the learning activity, and the tutor will describe what is anticipated of them and what they will probably be learning in that session. 1 . 2Summarise the difference between formative and summative assessment

Formative Assessments – Can be used in a lesson to measure the pupil's progress. Using open ended questions – This will encourage pupils to have their own suggestions without being ‘led' by adults. Observing students – We all observe pupils on a daily basis, this can help us collect information on how the pupils are progressing, what they are comfortable with and what they may require extra help in doing. Hearing how pupils describe their particular work and the reasoning – by doing this, it can help us understand how pupils work. Checking pupils' understanding – Before a learning activity we problem pupils about what they know already about a particular subject and that we also do this after the activity and verify what they have discovered during the treatment. Engaging pupils in reviewing progress – the students are encouraged to considercarefully what they have discovered and evaluate it against learning goals. Summative Tests – Is used at the end of term or when the teachers need to know what pupils have discovered and achieved at a particular time. The pupils at my class have recently gone through reading and maths checks so that the teacher can evaluate their reading abilities and the mathematical talents. This information will always be passed on to the teacher in the pupils' following classroom in September, with the end of their year too class, all their abilities will probably be tested once again to see how much they have produced over their particular time in her class. 1 . 3Explain you will of evaluation for learning

Assessment for learning can be described as way of marketing and updating the successes of the learners and this encourages those to take responsibility for their personal learning. We should explain learning objectives to the children ahead of the session and present them opinions on what they have was able to achieve throughout the session. It will help them to develop their self-assessment skills in order that they are able to understand their own achievements. Before they are able to assess their particular work, they must be able to examine other pupils' work so that they can build the abilities to assess their own work. The pupils will need to keep looking at the learning aim throughout this procedure so that they are able to assess their very own work. 1 . 4Explain the importance and great things about assessment for learning
