High Faithfulness is directed by Sophie Frears (The High-Lo Nation, Dangerous Liaisons) and is drafted for the screen by simply D. Sixth is v. Substantial Fidelity offers a comedy look at the heartbroken main character and narrator, whose recent separation forces him to re-think his earlier failed friendships and to face the fear of commitment. Who owns a vinyl record retail outlet, Rob Gordon (John Cusack: Being Ruben Malkovich) feels misled and mistreated by simply his fresh ex-girlfriend Laura (Iben Hjejle: Mifune). Tired and baffled, Rob decides to revisit a series of old girlfriends (played by Lili Taylor, Joelle Carter and Catherine Zeta-Jones) in order to learn from their reasons for having turned down him. When ever his research produces a somewhat optimistic view of himself, Rob's self-pride is energized and he feels forced to pursue a new excursion with the spectacular Marie DeSalle (Lisa Bonet). Conflicts arise when Take advantage of learns regarding Laura's abrupt interest in his intolerable neighbors Ian (Tim Robbins). High Fidelity shows the banal aspects of dropping in and out of love. Its key character, who personifies the identifiable ups and downs of bachelorhood, often turns to the camera to describe his misfortunes and to incite the viewers' feeling of compassion and joy. High Faithfulness draws most of its funny, however , coming from Rob's two eccentric personnel, Barry and Dick (Jack Black and Jake Louiso), in whose well-defined individuality and distinctive tastes in music contrast Rob's general ambivalence. Large Fidelity offers a totally male point of view by depicting a world wherever every guy character --troubled or not-- is nonetheless a funny persona, and exactly where all woman characters happen to be either also angered, too hurt or too unsociable, yet constantly serious. This choice facilitates the protagonist's perception from the female mind as impassable and makes High Fidelity a movie which responses one-sidedly for the irrationality of love....
